Final Outcome

These two posters are my final outcomes. They were created using Adobe Illustrator (mainly) and Adobe Photoshop (for effects).Print

How I made this:

  1. Used ‘Mom’s Typewriter’ font (from dafont.com) as the font for the title and phrase.
  2. Included the cast and crew at the bottom to make it look professional (SF Movie Poster font from dafont.com)
  3. Used a dark grey background for the black TV box to show.
  4. I found an image of a static screen on Google then created an image of an alien in the style of Saul Bass. I decreased the opacity of the alien’s face to make it seem like its part of the screen.

PrintChanges I made from the first draft:

  1. Changed the character fonts.
  2. Included Cast and Crew credits at the bottom of the poster to make it look more professional.
  3. Changed the curves to make the poster look darker.
  4. Added vignette and used the ‘Dodge’ tool to create shadows and highlights, emphasising that it is a horror movie.

Final Outcome

[The images below are the pages for my storyboard which were rendered in Adobe Illustrator. The order of these images are from left to right]
draft 1

1. The “camera” follows the vehicle which is travelling to the left. The clouds on the other hand are moving to the right. The road slopes downwards. [3 seconds]

2. The flowers slightly move(showing movement of car). The card shows the director’s name.

3. The “camera” moves to the right and the road slopes downwards. The trees and statues appear in repeating pattern.

4. The scene zooms in to the black tunnel, showing the statue whilst moving forward then turns the scene pitch black.

draft 2

5. This scene show two figures (Chihiro’s parents) eating slowly which then turns into messy eating. After 3 seconds, they silhouettes transform into pigs.

6. The clouds in the background as well as the smoke moves to the left.

7. The ghost figures walk to the left. As they move, their bodies would start to form.

8. Pans the “camera” from the previous scene which shows Studio Ghibli Productions.

draft 39. The susuwatari/soot gremlins appear as if they are walking towards the screen. Kamajii’s silhouette appears briefly on the background.

10. No face is seen walking towards the right side of the screen.

11. As No Face walks, the Shikigami flies towards him.

12. The camera follows the shikigami to the sky which then shows the film’s title.
